My Love for Eyelash Extensions
I love eyelash extensions and wore them for 5 years, but they are expensive! I only stopped getting them when my husband and I moved and they became too expensive where we lived.
Not only was I an eyelash extension consumer, but I also became a licensed cosmetologist and esthetician that did lash extensions for a couple of years before moving. So when it comes to lashes and eyelash extensions, I definitely know a thing or two.
After moving away I missed my long lashes so I continued to look for more affordable options. Something that would give the same look and low maintenance as my lash extensions. I heard of Lashify and a few others but they were still a little too expensive for me.
One day I saw my frugal sister-in-law with a fresh set of what I thought were eyelash extensions. I asked her about them lo and behold she said they were FlutterHabit lashes so I decided to try them!
What are FlutterHabit Lashes?
FlutterHabit lashes are luxe faux-mink lashes that are applied under the eyelash that give the same look as expensive eyelash extensions at a fraction of the cost. They currently come in six styles and each box ($30) includes six pairs of lashes (making them only $5 each!).
Instead of a single long faux eyelash strip that traditional false lashes come in, these lashes come in 4 small segments for each eye. They are also lighter and the band is thinner than traditional strip lashes. All this makes them more comfortable to wear and lasts longer.
My Experience
When I first received my lashes, I was hoping that my sets would last me the full five days. Since FlutterHabit is advertised as the 3-5 day lashes, I told myself I’d be happy if I could get the full five days out of them. (*Spoiler they lasted way longer!*)
How long did it take to apply them?
I watched and read all of the tutorials offered from FlutterHabit and, in the end, my first application took me about 30 minutes total. They recommend working from the outside in but I found working from the inside out was easier for me and haven’t encountered any issues so far.
I loved them immediately! I will say there is definitely a learning curve when it comes to applying these lashes. However, at the time I’m writing this I am getting better and better with each application and the time it takes gets shorter and shorter.
What Style did you get?
I purchased The Sweetheart style (a fan favorite style along with The Wink Lashes) which is the second shortest length that they offer along with the Made for This glue in clear.
I think if you don’t typically wear false lashes or eyelash extensions I would definitely try The Shorties style to start off. Or just getting The Collection box (pictured above) which has a pair of each style inside. That way you can figure out which style is your favorite!
At first The Sweetheart style was still a little bold but I still thought they looked great and got used to them very quickly!
If you wan’t to see more of what they look like on me you can check out my Instagram stories here!
How long did they last?
To my surprise, even with working out and showering every single day, my first set of lashes lasted me a whole 14 days! I was so impressed!
The only mishap was on the second night of wearing them, I was in bed and forgot I was wearing my lashes. I proceeded to rub my left eye so hard that I pulled off 3 of the 4 segments of that eye!
I was so mad at myself for forgetting but I simply reapplied the lashes the next day and they were fine lasting the next 13 days until I removed the set.
Luckily, in my accident, the strips didn’t pull off any of my natural eyelashes with them. Hallelujah!
Were they comfortable?
On the first day after application, I believe I put my inner corner segment too close to my waterline since it seemed to be poking a little. So when I reapplied the next day after my little mishap, I intentionally moved them a little further out and I didn’t even notice them for the rest of the time wearing them!
Again I’ve learned there’s definitely a learning curve and if the lashes are put too close to your waterline, they are uncomfortable but with the proper application I never notice them.
Are they worth it?
It’s now been 3 months of wearing my FlutterHabit lashes and I am so impressed with them! They are exactly what I’ve been searching forever since I stopped getting eyelash extensions.
I didn’t like the look of traditional false lashes since you can pretty much tell when someone has them on, but since FlutterHabit lashes sit under your natural lashes they look way more natural and exactly like expensive eyelash extensions!
You can’t even see the strip as you do with most false lashes, you don’t notice when you’re wearing them, and you don’t have to take them off every night! All that together is worth way more than the $5 a pair they charge. Heck, some companies charge way more than that for a single set of strip lashes that don’t look nearly as natural.
With so many styles and lengths to try, I think there is a FlutterHabit set for everyone and they are definitely worth it! So if you’re looking for a more affordable option to eyelash extensions, I would highly recommend giving FlutterHabit lashes a try!
Everything You Need to know About FlutterHabit Lashes:
I get it! You still have a few more questions about FlutterHabit products. Here’s everything you need to know about FlutterHabit Lashes so you can decide if they could be right for you.
How To Apply Them
To learn how to apply FlutterHabit lashes, the best thing to do is to follow their Application guide which you can find here.
But essentially, you apply one segment at a time first prepping the lashes by removing the packaging adhesive and trimming the edges if necessary. Then add a small amount of glue to the TOP of the lash band, apply the lash segment to the underside of your lashes getting close to your waterline but not touching it.
Then use the backside of your tweezers to push the ends of the lashes up helping push the glue into your own lashes to get a good bond. Then you just continue that with all the lash segments until you’re done.
After about 5 minutes, your glue should be dry and you’re good to go!
How long do FlutterHabit lashes last?
With proper application, the lashes are meant to last 3-5 days minimum. However, many customers report lashes lasting up to 17 days!
It’s important to note that to maintain the optimal health of your own lashes it is suggested that you not wear the lashes for longer than 5-7 days. That being said, everyone’s lashes are different, and many people report going longer with no adverse effects so experiment and see what works for you.
Can you sleep with FlutterHabit lashes?
Yes! Even as a stomach sleeper I haven’t had any problems sleeping in my lashes. When applied correctly, they are so comfortable that you forget they are even there. Making sleeping in them a breeze.
Can you wear makeup with them?
Yes, you can wear makeup with them but it is not recommended that you wear mascara on them.
Also wearing things like eyeliner can make them come off a little sooner since you’ll be applying and removing it more often from the eye area. I found that all other face makeup even eyeshadow was fine to wear with mine.
Can you shower with FlutterHabit lashes?
Yes, Flutter Habit Lashes are strong enough to handle the steam of your shower. However, they are not waterproof. Completely submerging them in water will soften the glue and make them fall out faster.
FH lashes can even withstand a little splashing just allow them to dry completely before touching them to make sure the glue stays in place. When you’re in the shower just do your best to keep them from the water as much as possible.
As a recap, are they waterproof? No, but they can handle steam and a couple splashes! So no to swimming, yes to showers.
What about sweat and working out?
Luckily, like with steam Flutter Habit lashes can handle the sweat! Again just don’t rub or touch them until they’re dry. My lashes last me 10-14 days even with working out and a shower every day!
As stated before, the recommended wear time is less than that but it works for me.
Will crying make them fall off?
Nope! As long as you don’t touch the lashes while they’re wet, scrunch your eyes a lot, or rub your eyelids, they’re pretty good about staying on through it all!
How do you wash your face with FlutterHabit lashes?
The website recommends washing the top and bottom of your face separately then using cotton pads or wipes for around the eyes.
I’ve found that I can do my whole face at the same time while using a washcloth and wipes for around my eyes! The goal is to not get them wet.
How to remove FlutterHabit Lashes
To remove your Flutter Habit lashes first, soften the glue by massaging it with an oil (coconut oil on q tip works!). Then simply peel the base of the lashes out from under your lashes instead of pulling them straight out.
If you feel any resistance, then the glue isn’t soft enough. The lashes should be able to slide right off without anything pulling or sticking.
Are FlutterHabit Lashes safe?
According to their website, FlutterHabit lashes are designed to be worn safely for 3-5 days for most people, but healthy wear-time can vary per person. Everyone is different, so pay attention to how your body responds.
One thing to keep in mind is some of the adhesives contain latex which some people may have a sensitivity to. In that case, they recommend just swapping their adhesive for your favorite latex free glue.
Another thing to keep in mind is the health of your natural lashes. When applied, maintained, and removed correctly, Flutter Habit lashes will not damage your natural lashes. And since they are lighter than traditional strip lashes, they are arguably better for daily wear than those traditional lash strips.
Nevertheless, here are 4 extra tips for optimal lash health:
- When removing the lashes, soften the glue first then peel the band (the base of the lash) from under the lashes instead of simply pulling them straight off.
- For optimal lash health, don’t wear a set for longer than 5 days.
- Again, for optimal lash health, allow a day or a couple of days after removal before applying another set.
- Watch the FlutterHabit application tutorials provided on their site to make sure you are applying correctly.
Ultimately, Flutter Habit lashes are just as safe as traditional false lashes, and in many cases, easier on your lashes too.
Can I reuse FlutterHabit lashes?
Reusing your FH lashes is something I just learned about inside their Facebook community! All you do is use alcohol on a q tip to clean the lashes and remove any glue and they’re good as new!
It’s up to you whether or not you want to reuse them, but it can save you even more money if you feel like after one wear they’re still in good condition.

I have worn lash extensions for 8 & 1/2 yrs, applied by a cosmetologist. Over the years, I became increasingly “allergic” to the glue, making me want to scream & itch my eyes after the 2 & 3rd days, finally easing on the 6th day. Granted the lashes were very natural looking & I really loved the look. However, lash glue is a major concern which is not really addressed in your video. I don’t have a latex allergy but I am quite concerned about the glue. Also, it is not clear what you mean by “waterline.” Of course you can’t have the lashes touching the eyeball so it is the very thin area just under one’s natural lashes but not touching the eyeball that you need to attach them to. How do you keep the glue from oozing onto the eyeball surface? These are my concerns about using these lashes. Have you had feedback from people about the effects of the glue?
