Having your own Etsy shop is a great way to make money from home! But there’s nothing worse than creating some products, setting up your shop, then… nothing. No one sees your products and no one buys! Or maybe you get a few sales here and there but nothing consistent but you want to turn your shop into a real business!
These 7 methods will help you generate more traffic to your Etsy shop, get more eyes on your products, and ultimately more sales!
1. Create an Instagram Account for Your Shop
A great way to get more eyes on your Etsy products is by creating an Instagram Business Account for your shop! You can add in pictures of your listings and grow a following for your shop. Plus harness the power of Hashtags to get more people seeing your posts and over to your shop!
Having an Instagram for your shop also allows your own friends and family to follow your shop and keep tabs on new products without always having to head to Etsy. Instagram is a platform that you can use to promote your listings but also give your business a personality and show your customers the face behind your brand with behind the scenes shots and stories.
2. Share Your Listings on Pinterest
If you’re not using Pinterest to promote your Etsy Shop listings then you are missing out on tons of possible traffic! Start a Pinterest business account, and claim your Etsy shop, and join group boards to pin your listings to!
You want to pin your listings to your own Pinterest boards but what you really want to do it join a bunch of group boards (boards that allow multiple contributers) to pin your products to. This allows you to harness other people’s Pinterest reach and followings to promote your own stuff! You can find Pinterest group boards at Pingroupie.com.
To be able to pin to a group board you have to be invited. To do this:
- Search for group boards in your niche on Pingroupie.com.
- Read the board description to find the board rules (how many times you can pin a day/what kind of pins are allowed) and how to contribute.
- Reach out to the owner of the board (the first contributor listed) and ask if you can join! Message them on Pinterest or better yet send them an email!
- If they send you an invite, click join and add your pins to the group board!
My pinterest account is able to reach 800k with less than 2k followers because I pin to group boards!
3. Promote Your Shop on Your Personal Accounts
Especially when your shop is brand new, share your new shop on your personal social media accounts and invite your friends and family to check it out with a clear call to action! Share you shop and specifically ask them to go check it out and maybe ask for any feedback they have, or ask them to share it with their friends and to go follow your Etsy shop Instagram account!
I know it can be scary sometime to put yourself out there, especially when you’re an introvert like me. But what’s the worst that could happen? No one checks out your shop? What’s the best thing that could happen? You make a bunch of sales! It’s worth the risk, just put yourself out there!
4. Run a Facebook Ad
If you have some money to invest into your Etsy shop then a great way to attract ideal customers is by running a Facebook ad to your shop. Facebook allows you to target specific people based on age, gender, interest, geography and more. Allowing you to push your products toward the people most likely to be interested in it!
You can run a Facebook ad for as little as $2 a day but you do need to have a Facebook page for your shop first so make sure you have that first.
5. Run a Promo.
A great way to drive more traffic and get more sales is by runnign a promo! Create a coupon for your shop and share it to all your social media accounts or in your Facebook ad! A promotion is a great way to get people who might be interested in your products to take action and click over to your Etsy Shop!
6. Use Tags and a Searchable Product Title.
One reason you may be lacking in shop traffic is because your listings don’t include any or very many tags and don’t have a good, searchable title.
Listing Titles:
When naming your products, don’t be afraid to add a long title that is searchable! Meaning it includes words that someone may put into the search bar to find your product. Instead of titling your product, Deer Wall Print, title it: Deer Nursery Wall Print – Digital Download, Baby Animal Print, Nursery Decor.
Listing Tags:
Also add in all 13 tags to each of your listings! If you aren’t coming up with all 13 tags then you’re possible missing out on search traffic! If you can’t come up with any good tags, head to a competetors listing and look at what tags they use and use those too!
7. Start an Email List.
If you ask anyone with a successful online business what their secret is to higher profits, they’ll likely tell you it’s having an email list! Online business owners, podcasters, bloggers, everyone knows the power of collecting people’s emails yet so many Etsy shop owners miss this step.
The benefit of having an email list is you can contact those people who have already said, Yes I’m interested in what you’re putting out and you can sell directly to them. When you list a new product you can tell a group of people who are already interested! Get people to sign up by offering a coupon in excange for their email.
