Wahoo! What a good month for the blog. January was full of surprises that I am still trying to get a hold of and lots of growth! This has been the most money my blog has made in a single month so far and I’m hoping to only keep that number climbing.
My Most Recent Income Reports:
- October 2018 Income report – $908.85
- November 2018 Income report – $1042.96
- December 2018 Income report – $1193.65
How it all started for me:
Being a stay at home mom was always the goal, I knew I didn’t want to do daycare or a nanny for my babies, but it wasn’t long after having my first child that I felt like I was swallowed up in motherhood.
While I wanted to stay at home with my babies I also wanted to be more than “just” a mom. I was so jealous of my husband who was working his way towards his dream career while I was stuck in my hamster wheel of motherhood.
I wanted to be successful, I wanted progression, I wanted what he had without sacrificing the ability to stay home.
Then one day while scrolling through Pinterest I found a post where a mom told how she made a full-time income as a stay at home mom by blogging. And I knew this was the answer I had been looking for.
I knew if she could do it so could I, and within a week I started my own blog. I blogging whenever I could, between nap times, late at night, and even weekends.
It didn’t take long for me to make my first dollar, then my first thousand dollars (thanks EBA!). All while at home with my baby. I was no longer just a mom, but an entrepreneur and business owner making money while my babies slept.
Blogging took me from stressed, guilt-stricken, and unfulfilled to the happiest, most motivated, and optimistic person I could be. It made me a better wife, mom, and person.
It’s crazy what living out your passions can do and being able to start and run my own business while raising my kids was my dream. But not only was I making money while at home with my kids, I also got to serve a tribe of moms just like me and help them do the same.
Blogging changed my life.
I never knew how much money there was to be made in blogging until I stumbled upon an income report myself. It was the big push that I needed to start my own and I am so glad I did! Which is why I share my own blog income.
Just a little pay it forward type of thing ?.

The Blogging Challenge That Gives You a Year of Blog Post Ideas in Only 5 Days!
What Worked in January:
January Traffic Boost:
Well, if you follow along with my income reports each month then you’ll notice my blog had a pretty significant traffic boost this month! An increase of over 27k pageviews in just 31 days!
The thing is, I’m not totally sure what caused it. The past two years I’ve had a significant increase in traffic from December to January and it mostly has to do with my freebies like my free habit trackers and free fitness planner that go like hot cakes during the new year new me time of year, but this year I felt like all of my posts had a big bump in traffic.
Pinterest is just sending me all kinds of love! ?
Last year I jumped from 49,083 pageviews in December to 71,250 pageviews in January and my traffic never went back down until I took my summer hiatus from the blog. So I’m hoping that the 100k+ pageview trend will only continue these next few months and skipping the summer hiatus this year will allow my traffic to only grow!
Facebook ad at .66 cents a lead = bigger list and more tripwire sales!
This month I experimented with a new Facebook ad that ended up being a huge success!
Usually, my Facebook ads perform at about $2.35 a lead. Meaning that for ever $2.35 I put towards that ad, I will generate one opt-in to my list. Now I’m not a Facebook ad pro, and with the research I did, I was fairly happy with that number.
But boy did my heart sing when I created a brand new ad that is now generating leads at only .66 cents each! ? While I’m not FB ad pro, I know that is a killer number!
So now I’m getting over 3.5x more email subscribers with the same ad budget! And because my opt-in is linked to my $7 ebook tripwire, I was able to make more sales! More subs = more tripwire sales!
Because of this, I’ve planned out a bigger ad budget for February to take advantage of my killer cost per lead!
What Didn’t Work:
The podcast…
If you’ve been following me for a while you already know I super struggle with procrastination. And if you’ve been following for long enough, you’ll know that my podcast, The Blog For Profit podcast has been in the works FOREVER!
I know, I’m the worst.
My plan back in January was to finally get the podcast launched but my audio stagefright and lack of interview skills have created a playground for procrastination. There’s always something else I’d rather do than record but I know that y’all have been asking for it, and there’s no way for me to get over my fears if I don’t just do it!
So far I have 4 episodes recorded. Zero of which are interviews, that crap scares the crap out of me. Especially because this is a brand new podcast so asking someone to do an interview for something that doesn’t exist yet is even scarier.
But I told myself that I was going to do things scared in 2019 and really grow to big heights. And the best way to do that is to push myself out of my comfort zone.
So, I think I’ve come up with a sort of solution to get the pressure off which is to make the podcast a bi-weekly podcast instead of a weekly podcast. That way I’ll have an episode every other week meaningless recording while I get my footing and less stressing.
That way we’ll at least get this thing launched! I mean it’s about dang time!
So keep an eye out for an email I’ll be sending out soon about the official dates and the giveaways I’ll be hosting in conjunction! (If you aren’t on my list, you can join here and get my free blog planner sent right to your inbox!)
How I did – Goals from January:
- Increase pageviews by 7,500. – Uh YESS! – I blew through this goal with an over 27k increase!
- Build email list to 5,000. – Hit! – 5,192 to be exact!
- Earn $1,333 in blog income. – Hit! – This was the one I thought I’d miss but I pulled it through with $1412!
Goals For February:
- Maintain 100K pageviews a month.
- Grow email list to 7500 ?.
- Earn $1,666 in blog income.
My new blogging strategy for 2019 comes from the new goal setting method I learned that changed the way I looked at my blog. It breaks down my huge blogging goals for the year into little bite-sized goals each month and week.
So know that each month these new goals I set are based on my huge blogging goals for the year which are to:
- Hit my first $5,000 blog income month!
- Hit 150,000 pageviews a month!
- Grow my list to 30k subscribers!
- Have my first 5 figure launch!
???
Yes, so building my list to 5,000 in January ultimately helps to achieve all these huge blogging goals I have for the year. It’s just one of my bite-sized steps!
Anyway, this goal setting method was one of my biggest breakthroughs of 2018 and helps me to see the big picture in my blogging business. You can get your hands on the killer blog setting method PDF here for free! It was a game changer for me.
Anyway here’s to a fantastic start to 2019! Keep pushing my fellow bloggers, you’ve got this!
